Japanese TV Channel "WAKUWAKU JAPAN" Launching in Singapore July 6th

comments

Japanese TV channel WAKUWAKU JAPAN will be launching in Singapore in July

WAKUWAKU JAPAN, a new 24-hour Japanese TV channel will be hitting Singapore's shores! The station is operated by SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, which also operates the SKY PerfecTV! satellite network and famous BS SKY TV channel in Japan. It is the largest Japanese entertainment channel in Indonesia and Myanmar, with Singapore being its third country.

Japanese TV station Hello! Japan stopped broadcasting on 1 July

Japanese TV channel "Hello! Japan" may have ceased transmission on 1 July but fret not, there won't be a lack of options for your Japanese entertainment needs!

The popular BS SKY channel is well-known for broadcasting the latest Japanese dramas, concerts such as Animelo Summer Live and many hot entertainment programs such as the recent AKB48 Senbatsu Sousenkyo (General Election).

Singapore residents need to wait only 5 days for new Japanese TV programming!

WAKUWAKU JAPAN will start broadcasting on Singtel TV Channel 616 on Monday, July 6, 2015, at 5.00pm (local time). It will be available as part of the Family Starter Pack and other packages.

WAKUWAKU means the feeling of excitement, pleasing, thrilling and more...!

WAKUWAKU JAPAN will air original “Singapore-friendly” enhanced programming consisting of the latest Japanese serial dramas, variety shows, and anime. Since part of the WAKUWAKU JAPAN concept is “broadcasting in local languages,” programs in Singapore will be aired with English subtitles or dubbing.

Note: WAKUWAKU JAPAN has not officially announced its launch on 6th July yet. Expect an announcement and major publicity in the coming days, possibly in tomorrow's Straits Times or over the weekend.

However, we had previously heard that it would be launching in Singapore sometime this year at the GARO Special Stage at CharaExpo. Somehow, while doing research for another article today, I chanced upon the WAKUWAKU JAPAN Singapore website and here we are.

GARO: The Animation will be airing in Singapore sometime in September or October, according to announcements made at anime convention CharaExpo

They also published a press release at 5.00pm today. What a coincidence.

SKY Perfect JSAT is also discussing promotional activities ahead of the start of broadcasts to boost awareness of the channel throughout Singapore, and will work to raise the visibility of WAKUWAKU JAPAN with the Singapore launch.

Those of us who are Starhub subscribers, including myself will unfortunately have to wait for the channel to be made available to us.

Well, at least we can continue to get our fix of Japanese programming in Singapore after Hello! Japan has ceased transmission!
